1902: was born
1905: received into the Lutheran Church
1915: spent six months in the bush
1920: married 
1923: shifted to Hermannsburg 
1936: accompanied Battarbee as a cameleer
1939: held his first solo exhibition 
1944: included in Who's Who in Australia
1953: awarded Queen Elizabeth II's coronation medal 
1954: presented to the Queen in Canberra
1955: elected an honorary member of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales 
1957: was granted the citizenship 
1958: was charged with supplying alcohol
1959: died

1918 -  Was born
1944 :  Helped found the ANC youth league
1949 :  His programme was adopted by ANC
1952 :  Opened the first Black low firm in South Africa super court
1960 :  Advocated the armed struggel through the Umkhonto
1962 : Arrested
1990 : Released
1993 : Awarded the  Nobel peace prize
1994 : Was elected as a president

                                           Nelson Mandela


TURNING POINTS

     .When his father died he became chief of his local tribe
   
     .Whilst at university Nelson Mandela became increasingly aware of the unjust nature of South              African Society

      . Mandela had to resign from the ANC and work underground

     . Mandela and several other were charged with treason  
      
      .The  Sharpeville massacre of 63 black South African’s led Mandela to advocate armed struggle            through the Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK).

     . By1962 Mandela had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment 


     . Nelson Mandela recently lost his eldest son to this disease and Mandela has worked hard to                campaign on this issue

Achievement
  .Became increasingly aware of the unjust nature of South African Society.
   .Mandela became involved in politics.
   .In 1952 Mandela and Tambo opened the first Black Law firm in South Africa.
   . Mandela helped found the ANC Youth League, whose Programme of Action was adopted by the        ANC in 1949.
   .He helped to keep other Men’s spirits high and never compromised his political principles when         offered earlt release.
   .On 10 May 1994 Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the first democratically elected State                  President of South Africa on and was President until June 1999.
